Abu Dhabi, hay cũng gọi là ʼAbū Ẓaby (nghĩa là "cha của linh dương gazen"), toạ lạc bên bờ Vịnh Ba Tư, là thủ đô và là thành phố lớn nhất của Các Tiểu vương quốc Ả rập Thống nhất (UAE). Abu Dhabi cũng là thủ đô của tiểu vương quốc Abu Dhabi, tiểu vương quốc Ả Rập(emirate) lớn nhất, thịnh vượng nhất và đông dân nhất trong bảy tiểu vương quốc tạo nên Các tiểu vương quốc Ả Rập thống nhất. Thành phố được xây trên một hòn đảo gần đất liền và có một cảng nước sâu nhân tạo quan trọng có tên là Cảng Zayed. Abu Dhabi là một trung tâm tài chính, giao thông vận tải của khu vực giàu dầu mỏ. Thành phố cũng có một sân bay quốc tế.

Lịch sử

Từ một thị trấn khiêm tốn với vài ngàn dân với các công trình nhỏ truyền thống giữa thập niên 1960, thành phố đã trải qua một giai đoạn tăng trưởng vượt bậc trong mấy thập niên qua. Hiện nay, Abu Ahabi đã là thành phố hiện đại với nhiều toà nhà chọc trời và có hàng trăm ngàn dân. Thành phố được quy hoạch theo ô vuông với các tuyến đường phố theo hướng Đông-Nam đến Tây Bắc. Nhiều công viên và vườn hoa đã được trồng ở những khu vực mà trước đây là sa mjac khô cằn. Thành phố có một tổ hợp thể thao lớn và một trung tâm văn hoá.

Lịch sử của Abu Ahabi được bắt đầu tư năm khu định cư năm 1761 và năm 1793 đây là nơi quyền lực của dòng họ al-Nahyan, dòng họ đang cai trị tiểu vương quốc Abu Dhabi cho đến ngày nay. Tuy nhiên, thị trấn này chỉ trở nên quan trọng hơn khi trữ lượng dầu mỏ lớn được phát hiện tại tiểu vương quốc này cuối thập niên 1950 và đầu thập niên 1960. Những năm tiếp theo, nền kinh tế và hạ tầng cơ sở của thành phố đã phát triển nhanh chóng những năm sau đó. Theo thoả hiệp năm 1971, thành phố Abu Dhabi đã được chọn làm thủ đô lâm thời của Các tiểu vương quốc Ả Rập thống nhất mới thành lập. The Yas Hotel by Asymptote architects is nearing completion in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The building forms part of the Yas Marina development accompanying a new Formula One circuit. The race track will pass through the complex under a bridge linking the two towers of the hotel. A canopy made of steel and diamond-shaped, glass panels will be supported over the towers and bridge.

The 500-room hotel is due for completion in October this year to coincide with the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Leeser Architecture Wins Design Competition For Five-Star Hotel In Zayed Bay, Abu Dhabi

Leeser Architecture has won an invited competition to design an iconic, five star hotel in the Zayed Bay district of Abu Dhabi. The project will be presented at the Cityscape developers’ conference in Abu Dhabi early next spring.

International architectural firm LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture) recently won a international design competition for the heart of Masdar, world’s first sustainable city masterplanned by Foster + Partners.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi To Open October 28, 2010

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is set to be the worlds largest indoor theme park, sitting under a roof designed in the style of a classic double-curve body shell of a Ferrari GT car.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will pay tribute to the passion, excellence, performance, and technical innovation that Ferrari has established over the years and represents today. Its iconic sleek red roof is directly inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, spanning 200,000 m² and carrying the largest Ferrari logo ever created.

LAVA Chosen To Design Masdar’s Entertaining City Center

International architectural firm LAVA (Laboratory for Visionary Architecture) recently won a international design competition for the heart of Masdar, world’s first sustainable city masterplanned by Foster + Partners.

Giant umbrellas, with a design based on the principles of sunflowers, will provide moveable shade in the day, store heat, then close and release the heat at night in the plaza of a new eco-city in the United Arab Emirates. The ‘sunflower umbrellas’ are one aspect of the winning design by the international practice LAVA for the city center for Masdar in the UAE – the world’s first zero carbon, zero waste city powered entirely by renewable energy sources.

Masdar is a planned city located 17 kilometers from Abu Dhabi. A government initiative, the city is being constructed over seven phases and is due to be completed by 2016.

Abu Dhabi Celebrates The Beginning Of Construction For The Louvre

On Tuesday 7 March 2007, the Louvre in Paris announced that a new Louvre museum would be completed by 2012 in Abu Dhabi. This is part of a thirty year agreement between the city of Abu Dhabi and the French government. The museum is to be located on the Saadiyat Island complex, and will be approximately 24,000 square meters (260,000 sq ft) in size. The final cost of the construction is expected to be between €83 million and €108 million.

Tháp nghiêng Pisa lộ diện tại Abu Dhabi

Tháp Pisa tại Italia từ lâu vốn nổi tiếng thế giới bởi độ nghiêng. Nhưng sự ra đời của Capital Gate với độ nghiêng gấp hơn 4 lần khiến Tháp nghiêng Pisa bị lu mờ.

Công trình gồm 35 tầng, cao 160m.

Sách các kỷ lục Guinness thế giới mới đây đã công nhận toà nhà Capital Gate ở Abu Dhabi thuộc Các Tiểu vương quốc Ả-rập thống nhất là tháp nghiêng nhất thế giới với độ nghiêng 18 độ, tức gấp hơn 4 lần so với công trình nổi tiếng ở Italia. Độ nghiêng của tháp Pisa là 3,97 độ.

Tuy nhiên, nếu Pisa nghiêng tự nhiên thì Capital Gate lại được cố tình xây dựng để nghiên sang một bên. Công trình gồm 35 tầng này được thiết kế bắt đầu nghiêng kể từ tầng 12 trở đi. Tính tới tầng 35, tháp này nghiêng so với trục thẳng đứng của toà nhà 18 độ.

Capital Gate, cao 160m, đã chính thức được ghi danh trong sách Guinness là “Tòa tháp nhân tạo nghiêng nhất thế giới”. Guinness còn đánh giá Capital Gate là một trong những công trình vĩ đại nhất thế giới.

Capital Gate do Công ty triển lãm quốc gia Abu Dhabi (Adnec) thiết kế và là một phần của Trung tâm Thủ đô có kinh phí đầu tư khoảng 2,1 tỷ USD với khoảng 20 toà nhà khác nhau. Tháp nghiêng này bao gồm khu văn phòng rộng 20.000m2 và khách sạn 5 sao Hyatt. Toà tháp dự kiến khai trương vào cuối năm nay.

“Capital Gate là công trình mang tính bước ngoặt với Abu Dhabi và việc lưu danh tòa tháp vào Guinness khiến nó trở thành một trong những tòa nhà vĩ đại nhất thế giới. Đây là một tòa nhà đặc biệt cho thấy khả năng nhìn xa trông rộng của Abu Dhabi”, Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon al Nahyan, Chủ tịch Adnec, nói.

Trước Capital Gate, Các Tiểu vương quốc Ả-rập thống nhất đã nổi tiếng với một công trình xây dựng lập kỷ lục thế giới khác - toà nhà Burj Khalifa cao 828m tại Dubai. Công trình này hiện là toà nhà cao nhất thế giới.

Công viên Thế giới Ferrari tại Abu Dhabi có kiến trúc độc đáo, được ví như một công trình của người ngoài hành tinh. Đây dự kiến sẽ là công viên trong nhà lớn nhất thế giới khi chính thức khai trương trong năm nay. Công trình đang trong giai đoạn hoàn thiện.

Ngoài đường đua còn có các cửa hàng cửa hiệu, khách sạn, khu vui chơi giải trí…, khiến công viên này được xem như “Disney Land” dành cho những người hâm mộ xe hơi.

Công viên Ferrari nằm trên đảo Yas, giữa bờ biển, thành phố Abu Dhabi và Dubai, có hệ thống tàu trượt nhanh nhất thế giới, với tốc độ 200 km/h. Người ngồi trên tàu sẽ có cảm giác tương tự như đang ngồi trên một chiếc xe đua Ferrari F1 khi tàu lao từ độ cao 62m xuống.

Phần mái công viên có màu đỏ đặc trưng của Ferrari, với những đường cong được lấy cảm hứng từ thân xe Ferrari GT. Công viên có tổng diện tích 200.000m², trên mái có logo tuấn mã tung vó lớn nhất thế giới của Ferrari, với đường kính 66m.

LAVA's Vision for Abu Dhabi's Sustainable Masdar City Center

Dubai's reign as a "symbol of crazed civic ambition" is over, but the United Arab Emirates is still planning to play host to Masdar City, the first large-scale carbon-neutral development in the world. Now the UAE has selected Sydney, Australia-based LAVA Architects to design the city center for the Abu Dhabi-based sustainable development.

The winning design features a five-star hotel, central plaza, convention center, entertainment complex, and shops. It sounds like typical showy Dubai fare, but LAVA offsets the scale of its city center with a number of sustainable tweaks, such as solar "umbrellas" in the plaza, adaptive building facades that adjust to capture sunlight, wall surfaces that adapt to changing temperatures, rooftop gardens, and underground water storage.

When complete, Masdar City will house 40,000 residents, 50,000 commuters, and over 1,500 companies. The companies involved, including materials companies, solar technology firms, fashion labels, will all be sustainability-minded. Masdar will also host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
